Xu Minggang, born in 1961, is an expert in agricultural soil fertilization and degraded soil improvement, an academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences (IEA), a researcher at the South Asian Tropical Crops Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CAATAS), the chairman of the Academic Committee of the Shanxi Agricultural University (SAU), and the Chief Scientist of the Institute of Ecological and Environmental Industry and Technology.
Minggang Xu is mainly engaged in research on soil fertility and improvement in Chinese farmland. He has explored the evolution of soil organic matter in Chinese agricultural soils and created key technologies for soil organic matter enhancement; solved the international problem of inability to accurately predict the dynamics of organic matter in paddy fields; filled the international gaps in the study of organic matter in highly intensive production; explored the characteristics of acidification of red-soil farmland in southern China, and constructed key technologies for the prevention and control of red-soil acidification, so as to achieve the improvement of acidified soils and sustainable use of these soils.
